The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) is the largest health services network in the UAE, providing quality care for residents and utilizing leading-edge technologies to deliver exceptional patient services and outcomes.
The Abu Dhabi Healthcare Company (SEHA) was established by Emiri Decree No 10 of 2007, as an independent public joint stock company. It is the owner and operator of all public hospitals and clinics in Abu Dhabi and was set-up to provide the UAE residents and citizens integrated and outstanding healthcare services with the highest international quality and safety standards.
SEHA is responsible for the management of public healthcare hospitals and centers, while the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi regulates the public and private healthcare sector.
As the largest healthcare service provider in the UAE, SEHA is committed to creating accessible and world-class facilities in line with the vision of the Abu Dhabi government. In keeping with the Abu Dhabi Government’s strategy to identify best global practices and explore competitive ideas, we have also entered several partnerships with international healthcare institutions including our recent joint venture with the Mayo Clinic. Their world-renowned capabilities have significantly contributed to SEHA’s growth and development. Today, the SEHA Health System consists of 13 hospitals with 2,644 beds, 46 Primary Healthcare Clinic, 10 Disease Prevention and Screening Centers, 3 Mobile Clinics, 1 School Clinic, 2 Blood banks, 4 Dental Centers, 2 Employee Healthcare Center, and 1 Vaccination Center. Our facilities accommodate 114,000 inpatients annually and conduct 54,000 surgeries, as well as treat more than five million outpatients.

Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) is the UAE’s largest hospital. Established as part of the Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030 to elevate healthcare services in the Emirate, the 741-bed medical complex is a cornerstone of Abu Dhabi’s healthcare services. The hospital provides world leading quality and safety standards with the patient experience and excellence at the heart of its approach. SSMC has 30 different specialties and employs the most advanced medical diagnostic equipment and devices. Located in the Al Mafraq area of the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, SSMC’s buildings and surrounding areas have been designed in accordance with international building development standards. In November 2019, SEHA partnered with U.S. non-profit organization, Mayo Clinic to establish a joint venture to operate SSMC. Corniche Hospital Corniche Hospital is an iconic organization, serving the Abu Dhabi community for over 40 years. The Hospital is the UAE’s leading tertiary Women & Newborn hospital providing high quality and specialized services to women and newborns. Corniche provides a comprehensive range of inpatient and outpatient obstetrics, gynecology, and neonatology services including fetal medicine – the most sophisticated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the region, fertility services and advanced laparoscopy. Sheikh Khalifa Medical City Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) is a flagship tertiary hospital in the UAE and the largest teaching medical center in the city of Abu Dhabi. The hospital has pioneered multiple innovative medical technologies locally and regionally, establishing itself as a market leader and setting new benchmarks for the sector. Major achievements include; the first Transplant Center in the UAE and the sole provider of Paediatric transplant services in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the largest Cardiac Science program for Paediatrics and adults and the only Paediatric Cardiac Surgery Program in Abu Dhabi, the first accredited Chest Pain Center in the region and outside the United States. SKMC is committed to providing exceptional and comprehensive adult surgical and medical services in its inpatient and outpatient facilities. SKMC also manages a Biosafety Level 3 Laboratory (BSL3) and a 125-bed Behavioural Sciences Pavilion, the largest mental care facility that provides adults and Paediatrics services. SEHA Kidney Care SEHA Kidney Care (SKC) has three dialysis centers dispersed in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi: Tawam Dialysis Center, Sheikh Khalifa Medical Dialysis Center, Mafraq Dialysis Center, in addition, there are 11 units which serve nine different areas in Abu Dhabi. These centers and units provide hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis. SKC treats 1,123 patients every week, averaging over 160,000 treatment sessions annually. Ambulatory Healthcare Services Ambulatory Healthcare Services (AHS), a SEHA Health System Facility, is the gateway to healthcare services in Abu Dhabi. As one of SEHA’S key strategic objectives, AHS is also focused on providing easy access to high quality curative, specialized, and preventive services. Al Mushrif and Al Towayya Children’s Specialty Centers The centers offer specialist Paediatric care and are equipped with the most cutting-edge medical and diagnostic equipment. Specialties include general pediatrics, infectious diseases, dermatology, endocrinology, nephrology (kidney diseases), ophthalmology, ear nose and throat, pulmonology, surgery, dental, cardiology, immunology and allergy, neurology, orthopedics, rheumatology, gastroenterology, psychiatry, and psychology. Al Rahba Hospital Established in 2003, Al Rahba Hospital is a 166-bed advanced secondary care facility. Since 2008 has been managed by Johns Hopkins Medicine International, a leading U.S. healthcare and medical institution. In 2006, Al Rahba became the first public hospital in the UAE to be accredited by Joint Commission International (JCI). Al Rahba’s advanced emergency department serves more than 200 patients daily, harnessing advanced technology such as a multi-slice CT scanner, designed to provide specialist care in trauma cases. The Outpatient Department has 18 specialties. Tawam Hospital Tawam Hospital is a premier 774 bed tertiary care facility located in Al Ain and is one of the largest hospitals in the UAE. The hospital is managed by Johns Hopkins Medicine International, a leading U.S. healthcare and medical institution. Tawam offers services in specialties including oncology, neonatal care, emergency medicine, intensive care, surgery, urology, family medicine, fertility services, neurosurgery, nephrology, pediatrics, pain management, internal medicine and obstetrics and gynecology. Tawam Hospital actively recruits and engages a national workforce, with an average Emiratization rate of 22%. Al Ain Hospital Al Ain Hospital is one of the largest hospitals in Al Ain City, and was established over 45 years ago. With 402 beds, Al Ain Hospital provides specialized acute care, emergency medical care and the UAE’s first acute Stroke Unit as part of its 35 medical departments. Al Ain Hospital has been accredited by Joint Commission International since 2010. The hospital serves as an academic medical centre, in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at UAE University. Furthermore, the hospital also provides medical residency training programs for Internal Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology and Behavioural Sciences. It is the only facility in the region offering inpatient behavioural sciences and psychological community care. Al Dhafra Hospitals Al Dhafra hospitals is a premier medical institution located in Al Dhafra, encompassing six hospitals which are Madinat Zayed, Ghayathi, Marfa, Delma, and Liwa. In addition, the institution also includes four clinics which are Bida Mutawa, Abu Al-Abyad Clinic, Sir Bani Yas Clinic, and Al Dhafra Family Medicine Center (DFMC). Together, these hospitals and clinic provide coverage across 16 different specialties including inpatient and outpatient medical services covering different fields and specialties, including internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology & obstetrics, general surgery, anesthesia, pharmacy services, laboratory and diagnostic radiology.

Yes. A follow up call will be made to the complainant. SEHA’s Clinical Affairs Department is responsible for conducting the investigation into clinical issues and conveys final investigation outcomes to the complainant according to prescribed policies and procedures in effect from time to time and as may be required by law.

Adult medical services including: Cardiology, Orthopedic, Gastrointestinal, Hematology and Oncology.
Starting from 15th November, all new appointments and follow up for the above specialties will be provided at SSMC, however some services will be provided as transition period. All patients will be contacted and given the opportunity to choose for their connivance to reschedule their appointments.
Clinical services will be provided by one team of clinicians in different sites.
SEHA pays a great attention for continuity of medical care, patients will be seen by the same treating physician.
Patients will be contacted and re-scheduled by SEHA call center and SSMC staff to book their appointments as per their convenient on the newly added clinics. Patients shall continue to receive the same high standard of medical care as previously received at SKMC.
ED at SKMC will remain open and treat patients as usual. In fact, SEHA is planning to upgrade SKMC ED and license it as Trauma level II to continue serve the community.
