Prathapakumar T Raghavan

Biography

Dr. Prathap Raghavan is a Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine. He is currently the Physician Lead and Acting Medical Director at STMC Rehabilitation Hospital, Al Ain, and he also extends his services to both Tawam and Al Ain Hospitals. He completed his post graduate training in Internal Medicine followed by higher specialist training in Rehabilitation Medicine in Leeds, UK. He worked in the UK for 2.5 years as consultant physician leading rehabilitation services for patients with neurological conditions in the southwest UK, before moving to Canada. In Canada, he acquired Royal College of Physicians and Sugariness of Canada Certification and Fellowship in Rehabilitation Medicine. He worked as the medical director of inpatient services and oversaw adult inpatient rehabilitation services along with running regular outpatient services. He along with neurology colleagues set up one of the earliest comprehensive stroke centres in the region in his hospital and was part of provincial stroke collaborative services. Dr Prathap moved to Al Ain in 2017 as the first physician of Rehabilitation Medicine at Tawam hosptial and helped to develop the specialty of rehabilitation medicine in Al Ain Region. He was also instrumental in setting several specialized services including rehabilitation programs for heart diseases. He is very passionate about developing specialized multi-disciplinary rehabilitation programs which are cost effective and evidence based.
