SEHA Kidney Care (SKC) is the largest leading provider of kidney care services across the UAE. SKC provides the full spectrum of renal services, including mild acute kidney injury, glomerulonephritis, diabetic and hypertension kidney disease, genetic problems, vasculitis, and all forms of chronic kidney disease.
SKC specializes in all dialysis treatments and kidney transplantation. It provides acute and chronic care services for inpatients and outpatients in many SEHA facilities, such as primary care and kidney care centers, inpatient care, Sheikh Shakbout Medical City (SSMC), Abu Dhabi Stem Cell Centre, and specialized rehabilitation hospitals.
SKC operates three core kidney care centers, which are SEHA Kidney Care Center in Al Ain, near Tawam Hospital, SEHA Kidney Care Center in -Abu Dhabi, near Sheikh Khalifa Medical City, and SEHA Central Kidney Care Center - near Sheikh Shakbout Medical City. SKC’s network is comprised of other clinics and hospitals, such as Al Wagan, Mirfa, Sila, Gyathi, Delma Island, and Liwa Clinics, and Madinat Zayed, and Al Rahba Hospitals.
SKC adopts a prioritization strategy to prevent organ failure. However, kidney transplantation is always the first option explored to replace the failing kidney.
Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA) and SKC provide transplants to patients more than any other unit in the UAE. Transplantation surgeries are performed mostly in Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) by a dedicated transplant team. If kidney transplantation is not an immediate choice, then all modalities of dialysis including in-center hemodialysis will be offered to the patient. SKC is the only nephrology facility across Abu Dhabi that provides all forms of peritoneal dialysis.
SKC has launched recently home dialysis treatment for patients with limited mobility and overnight hemodialysis that offers the patients more time to themselves during the day. SKC also provides education to patients who wish to have home kidney dialysis.
SKC supports more than 180,000 hemodialysis sessions per year and more than 100 Peritoneal Dialysis patients.
Our dialysis machines are connected to the electronic medical record to monitor all real-time dialysis while it is performed, in addition to computer analytics to guarantee that our highly experienced physicians obtain a complete and accurate picture of the patient’s case.
