SEHA Kidney Care is dedicated to employing innovative research methods to discover new approaches for diagnosing and treating disease. Our work is driven by a culture of collaboration, where clinicians, scientists, and allied health professionals contribute their expertise toward shared objectives.
With access to state-of-the-art technologies, advanced laboratories, and strong institutional support, our teams are positioned to translate scientific insights into meaningful clinical advancements.
Together, we aim to generate evidence that enhances patient care and contributes to the global body of medical knowledge.
Age-related problems such as kidney, heart and bone diseases are linked to impaired handling of tiny mineral particles containing calcium in our blood called calciprotein particles (CPP). Detecting and removing harmful CPP levels presents an opportunity to prevent or slow disease, improving patient outcomes and extending healthy lifespan.
The Mineralomics lab is situated at SKC-Central. This project pioneers the first-ever diagnostic testing targeting calciprotein particles (CPP) to predict and manage many diseases including ageing. The lab’s cutting-edge approach could revolutionize how these conditions are detected and treated, offering preventive therapies and personalised care options for at-risk populations.
Anticipated benefits:
SKC has developed its own unique interface with our electronic medical record. This not only saves time but has huge advantages to keep all of the data in the electronic medical record for our software to analyse and present to our doctors for easy review of the dialysis sessions.
SKC has a large grant from ADQ to set up a Mineralomics Lab which is now being built in SKC. The Mineralomics Lab with look at Calciprotein Particles in Ageing and Disease Prevention.
Other collaborative research includes grants with Khalifa University and The Government of Taiwan.
SKC is about to start an exciting project with DoH to examine the effects of Gum Arabic on residual renal function.
SKC is also working on a number of other grant applications with partners in a number of pharmaceutical companies for investigator lead studies and contract research.
SKC and SEHA CLINICS have teamed up to provide cutting edge early CKD care with AHS who have developed a chronic disease management team to manage early stage Chronic kidney disease.
